Boyz II Men

R&B Group

Boyz II Men remains one of music’s most truly iconic R&B groups. The group redefined popular R&B and continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generations. The band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades.

The group’s 4 Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg: throughout their 25-year career, Boyz II Men have also won a whopping 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 Billboard Awards, a MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2011, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well and a Casino Entertainment Award for their acclaimed residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, which has been ongoing since 2013.

The trio is the best-selling R&B group of all time, with an astounding 64 million albums sold. And the reason is abundantly clear: Boyz II Men have given fans a rich catalog of hits filled with smooth harmonies and enduring themes for the past two decades. The hits keep coming—the group continues to craft new albums and bring their legendary act to stages worldwide.

Boyz II Men’s past hits include: “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “One Sweet Day,” “Motownphilly,” and many others. Their recent albums have earned them major critical acclaim as well. Their Decca label debut, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA (Decca/Universal), on November 13, 2007, earned them two Grammy Nominations.

In 2011, Boyz II Men marked their 20th anniversary by releasing a landmark album, fittingly titled Twenty. The album contains the group’s first original material in nearly a decade and a dozen remastered classic, career-defining hits. Twenty debuted at #20 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, #4 on the Billboard R&B album chart, #10 on the Billboard Digital Album Chart, and placed #1 on the iTunes R&B Soul Album chart. Twenty’s first single, “More Than You’ll Ever Know,” cracked into the top 15 on Urban AC charts.

Boyz II Men have won fans worldwide with their soulful multi-octave sound and incredible vocals. Given the monumental success of their albums and the timeless quality of their vocals, it’s easy to see why Boyz II Men remains the most popular R&B group of all time. Ask any successful pop or R&B superstar which artists have inspired them- chances are Boyz II Men will be at the top. From Justin Timberlake and Usher to Justin Bieber and Beyonce, the most successful stars in the industry look to Boyz II Men as their idols.

Beyond making music, giving back is also important to Boyz II Men – the group has its own charity called Boyz II Men House, which lends support to individuals and organizations that focus on improving the quality of life and helping to unlock human potential while contributing to the health and vitality of those less fortunate.

Fans were wowed in the summer of 2014 when Boyz II Men headed out on the hotly-anticipated Package Tour with New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees.

The group released a new album featuring original material through the label BMG in October 2014 called Collide. Collide is a landmark album for Boyz II Men, showcasing a new and different sound for one of the most successful and enduring groups in mainstream music. ABC’s hit show, “The Bachelorette,” featured two of the tracks, “Better Half” and “Diamond Eyes.”

The group also performed on FOX’s hit live show, “Grease Live”, which aired on January 31, 2016, and their performance became the most-tweeted moment. Also in 2016, Wanya Morris became a double threat, stepping on the dance floor on ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars,” where he and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, made it to the semifinals—ending on a high note with three tens.

In the summer of 2017, the group again joined New Kids on The Block for The Total Package tour featuring Paula Abdul. In the fall of that year, the group released a Doo-Wop album, Under The Streetlight.

In October 2019, the trio made a cameo in ABC’s show, “Schooled,” where they performed “Motown Philly,” a spoof on their hit song–taking it back to the ’90s with a twist. Continuing their TV era, the Boyz II Men were featured in a film starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen called “Long Shot,” which received rave reviews.

In February 2020, the group launched a wine called Chateau Harmony. Most recently, they made an appearance on the NBC hit show “Songland.” Their song “Love Struck” premiered at # 2 on iTunes.

Last year the group released “If You Leave Me Now,” a hit song with singer/songwriter Charlie Puth and opened up for Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic tour in select cities in the United States. Additionally, they were nominated for a CMT Music Award for their Crossroads performance of “Motownphilly” with country singer Brett Young and continued collaborations by joining forces with Steep Canyon Rangers on a bluegrass song, “Be Still Moses.”

Holly Williams country music star

Holly Williams

Country Music Artist

Most country artists talk about their long journey to Nashville, but Holly Williams was born and raised in country music’s capital. Most country artists speak of some music-loving elder who almost made it, but Holly Williams comes from country royalty. Hank Williams was her grandfather, Hank Jr. her dad, and Hank III her half-brother. Despite all this – and a couple songs she wrote at the age of eight – when growing up Holly wasn’t interested in music, and dreamed of a career in modeling. Hank Jr. and Holly’s mother had separated when Holly was young, but in her teen years her father was taking his daughter to more of his shows. Perhaps that’s why, at the age of 17, Holly finally tried playing one of the guitars in the house. Within a week she was writing introspective, somewhat dark, songs.

After graduating from high school, she gave herself a year to try the music business before she would settle for college. Three months in Los Angeles to study piano, write songs, and attend concerts by the Rolling Stones, Elliott Smith, and Neil Finn helped her focus. Her songs had landed in the hands of Ron Sexsmith, who immediately offered Williams a support slot on his European tour. By 2003 she had recorded and released her own EP, toured with Billy Bob Thornton, and signed with Universal South. The label issued her debut full-length, Ones We Never Knew, in October of 2004. A year later Williams was dropped by her label and later involved in a serious car accident that required months of recovery. She returned in 2009 with the album Here with Me and its hit single, “Keep the Change,” both released by her new label, Mercury. The album was critically lauded, but she parted ways with the label after touring in support of it.

Williams began running her own clothing store in 2007. She took a couple of years off from recording to get it running. Then she turned 30, and married her guitarist, Chris Coleman. When she decided to record again, she opted to do it herself. The Highway is a self-financed and self-released offering on Williams and Coleman’s Georgiana Records label. Produced by Grammy-winner Charlie Peacock, the 11-song set features guest appearances by Jackson Browne, Jakob Dylan, Dierks Bentley, and Gwyneth Paltrow. A year in the making, it was released in early 2013.

Shaun Johnson

Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience

Well, hello there.

Have you ever heard of a big band covering Spiderman? Get ready, my friend. We’re happy to introduce you to what we call the new evolution of big band music – born of rebellion – and we owe it to Sinatra to keep that evolution alive and kicking.

How good are we? Glad you asked. We have musicians who have toured with Aretha Franklin, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, New Kids on the Block, and Music Hall of Fame inductees.

This group is nothing if not upfront; it’s one of those rare cases where everything you need to know is right in the name. You’ve got Shaun Johnson, an Emmy-winning singer/songwriter who’s sold nearly two million albums as part of the nationally known vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa. Then there’s the big band sound. Few acts can channel Sinatra as he softly croons about lost love, inhabits Citizen Cope as he belts one out, and then segue into original songwriting seamlessly. Finally, there’s the experience. Our sound is centered on innovation to ensure that while each performance is an experience, no two experiences are the same. And let’s face it: being relatively new to the game means BBE has a fresh sound and that your audiences can hear that sound as it develops.

Looking for a group heavily influenced by the big band era but never – not for one moment – feels as if it lives anywhere but the present? Live with us.

More on the Story of the Big Band Experience:

Shaun Johnson, an Emmy-winning singer/songwriter, seemed destined for a life of music from the very beginning.

“One of my earliest memories,” he says, “is of performing at state fair talent shows with my little sister. We’d sing Sonny and Cher songs, a cappella, when neither of us was quite tall enough to reach the microphone.”

Originally from the small town of Saint Joseph, Iowa, Shaun attended Saint John’s University before settling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he began his career with the nationally known quartet, Tonic Sol-fa.

This quartet has sold nearly two million albums independently and has been featured in Newsweek and on the Today Show. Shaun is still an active member.

In 2016, Shaun put together a group featuring some of the best instrumentalists and arrangers in the Midwest– guys who’ve toured with numerous luminaries, who are Music Educators of the Year, and who are integral members of collegiate jazz faculties. His vision was to create a contemporary big band sound with a pop flair, honoring legends like Frank Sinatra, with a nod to Michael Bublé, while giving the music his own twist – performing songs ranging from the “Spiderman Theme” to increasingly popular original work.

The initial holiday tour received such overwhelming feedback that they undertook another expanded holiday tour the following year. The proceeds from those first small tours were subsequently donated to local charities.

In 2018, with increased presenter and fan demand, the BBE added even more cities to the holiday tour and, for the first time, began accepting regular season shows, which expanded rapidly across the United States. Look for the BBE’s first PBS special, “Spirit of the Season,” to air across North America, and the Big Band Experience’s first studio recording, “Capitol,” which garnered a top 5 debut on the Billboard Jazz Chart.

Train

Band

Platinum rockers from the Bay Area who straddled the line between alternative rock and adult contemporary. Arriving at the twilight of the post-grunge era, Train managed to simultaneously exist squarely at the center of American mainstream rock while not belonging to any particular trend. Despite the hard rock background of lead singer Pat Monahan, the San Francisco-based combo never sounded particularly heavy. Instead, they tapped into the sturdy sounds of classic rock, an aesthetic epitomized by their breakthrough “Drops of Jupiter.” That 2001 international smash gave Train a career, but the group turned into superstars in 2009 when the breezy “Hey, Soul Sister” established the combo as adult contemporary superstars. Certified as sextuple platinum, “Hey, Soul Sister” was a sunny, nostalgic number that illustrated how Train was quintessentially Californian: they were transplants drawn to the West Coast, besotted by the sounds and sights of the Pacific, preferring good times to grit. After “Hey, Soul Sister,” Monahan and Train made no bones about celebrating their adopted home, in the process racking up a string of Top Ten adult contemporary hits that stretched into the late 2010s.

X Ambassadors

Band

X Ambassadors’ debut album VHS reflects on the events that shaped lead vocalist and lyricist Sam Harris and his older brother, keyboardist Casey Harris’ life growing up in Ithaca, NY. “It was us looking back on everything that made us who we are,” says Sam. The gold-certified album, which Rolling Stone called “bombastic rock that’s as stomping as it is diaristic, leavened by big-tent pop hooks and a hint of hip-hop swagger,” debuted at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and spawned the platinum-selling “Renegades,” which spent 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Alternative chart, and the double-platinum “Unsteady,” which went Top 10 at Alternative, Hot AC, and Top 40 radio. The success of VHS sent X Ambassadors on a nearly two-year touring odyssey that found them winning over fans around the world and performing at the Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Life is Beautiful, and Shaky Knees festivals, among others, and establishing themselves as a world-class rock band.

Yacht Rock Revue

Rock Band

This top-notch group of musicians has already rocked onstage with John Oates, Eddie Money (RIP), and both versions of the band Player. They’ve trademarked the term “yacht rock,” both metaphorically and literally. From humble beginnings in a basement, touring in partnership with Live Nation and Sirius XM, they now headline sold-out shows across the country, from Webster Hall in New York to the Wiltern in L.A. While rising from bars to amphitheaters, they’ve ticked every box on the Rock Star Accomplishments bingo card. Except for one: Writing and singing their own songs.

Yacht Rock Revue’s first original record is ten songs inspired by the smoooooth sounds of the Seventies and Eighties. They’ve brazenly titled it Hot Dads In Tight Jeans – forgive them for bragging, but that’s what they are – and it returns Yacht Rock Revue to their roots in original music.

The Passing Zone

Comedy Juggling

The Passing Zone are one of the most accomplished comedy juggling duos in the nation.  They’ve done it by focusing on three success principles – innovation, collaboration and execution. Their hilarious, energetic and inspiring keynote (or show), can now be performed through an interactive live stream. In these unique times, everyone is looking for something different to make a “virtual” impact on their audience.

Owen Morse and Jon Wee met in 1986 at a juggling convention and instantly knew they were destined to be a team. But they decided to graduate from college first. Which they both did. Rather than pursue careers in Economics and Psychology, they lit some torches, and started throwing stuff into the air. And things clicked. Two weeks after their first performance together they won the Silver Medal at the International Jugglers’ Association Teams Competition. The next year they won the Gold. That recognition earned an invitation to appear at the renowned Comedy and Magic Club in Los Angeles, where on their first night they were approached by the “Tonight Show” talent scout and booked for their first national television appearance in September 1990. Johnny Carson enjoyed them so much they were asked back less than a year later. Their first feature film followed, The Addams Family Movie, where Jon and Owen doubled for Gomez (Raul Julia) and Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) in the climactic Mamushka dagger-passing scene. They also appeared in the award-winning comedy documentary, The Aristocrats.

The Passing Zone’s first London appearance was in the Royal Variety Performance at the Dominion Theatre, performing for Prince Charles and sharing the bill with Tony Bennett and Riverdance. They expanded their US national television audience by passing clubs over the heads of the Miss America Pageant contestants during the swimsuit competition, demonstrating almost inhuman concentration skills! They were finalists on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” performing in Seasons 1 and 11, and both times losing to a young, female singer!

Jon and Owen are known as much for their comedy as their juggling skills. They were featured twice on the gala stage at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and have opened for comedians Jay Leno, George Carlin, Bob Newhart, Bob Hope, and Penn & Teller. Television appearances have included “Comic Strip Live,” “CNN’s Road Warriors,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “An Evening at The Improv,” “MADtv,” Penn & Teller’s “Sin City Spectacular,” “Steve Harvey’s Big Time,” and regular returns to NBC’s “Today.” And they were commentators on ESPN for their coverage of the World Juggling Federation competitions, and the Moxie Games at SkillCon.

Several years ago they were guest performers at The White House.

The Passing Zone has been awarded five Guinness World Records and 18 Gold Medals from the International Juggler’s Association. They were presented with that organization’s Award of Excellence, for “excellence in the art of juggling through professional performance,” which is the most prestigious award in juggling (essentially the Juggling Hall of Fame). In addition, they have been inducted into the National Speaker’s Association’s Speaker Hall of Fame.

They can often be seen doing entertainment and keynote speaking at corporate events, for which they are a natural fit. Their act is clean, so it offends no one. They appeal to all ages, and all walks of life, so whether their audience is a group of mechanical contractors, software engineers, hairdressers, or billionaire business leaders, they are always a hit. Not only do they entertain, but they customize their performances by juggling a company’s product, incorporating their slogans, and inspiring groups to perform as a team, with excellence and creativity.

In addition, The Passing Zone has become popular at theaters and performing arts centers, bringing their zany and sometimes terrifying acts to communities all across the nation. Their most recent show, “The Passing Zone Saves the World!” is currently touring.

Jon and Owen reside in the greater Los Angeles area, where, when they are not throwing things, they spend as much time as possible with their families, and still manage to squeeze in hang gliding, surfing, mountain biking, and motorcycling, although not all at the same time.

Brandon Leake

The Founder and CEO of Called To Move – CTM, Brandon Leake, is an artistic visionary whose roots lie in the ghetto’s of south side Stockton, California. Being born and raised to a single parent household with his mother, Carla Leake-Gibson, Brandon was accustomed to the complexities of playing this game of life with the decks stacked against you. However, with a strong home life and some divine intervention Brandon made it out of his neighborhood ghetto into a college classroom. This journey came with its many trials from the loss of integral members of his family and abusive home life, but these trails mixed with this spiritual collegiate journey would soon blossom into a beautiful poetic journey. In 2012 Brandon started Called To Move – CTM at Simpson University with a small group of artists just trying to share their gifts and encourage others to do so, which has lead its way into inspiring others through poetry all across the country. Brandon Leake released a debut album entitled, “In My Thoughts,” which lead him to traveling from Los Angeles to New York and everywhere in between for a year and a half performing his pieces, leading spoken word poetry workshops, and keynote speaking.

Pat McGann

Stand-Up Comedian

Pat McGann is quickly rising as one of the sharpest stand-ups in the comedy world. A relative latecomer to the scene, Pat began stand up at the age of 31 after realizing he was not very good at selling packaging. He hustled his way to become the house emcee at Zanies Chicago, where he distinguished himself as especially adept at working the crowd. A husband and father of 3 young children, Pat’s appeal stems from his quick wit & relatable take on family life & marriage.

In 2017, McGann began touring as the opening act for Sebastian Maniscalco, moving with him from clubs to theater, and to arenas, including 4 sold out shows at Madison Square Garden. McGann’s relatively short, but impressive resume, includes performances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and many more. McGann still calls Chicago home.
